Beauty in ChaosA Poem by Amber Dawn AginI'm always the one left broken but I find destruction beautiful, maybe that's my problemI have never found beauty in flawlessness Chaos had proven far more mesmerizing It is in hair that’s unruly and windblown in every direction strands falling in front of dark eyes Not dark in color, it's the light behind their eyes; the fire behind is pitch black yet still burning It is in smiles that are lopsided and carefree revealing their teeth that don’t sit in a still and perfect row in the same mouth that can spit poison as quick as it can lick wounds It is in voices that are like thunder, loud and booming thick with rain until there is no storm left inside- they leave behind wreckage and gain a raw throat It is in skin covered with scars of stories sometimes better left untold but remain screaming underneath clothes showing physical proof of how much pain they have bared in their short time here I fall in love with people who, like me, are broken incapable of loving without scorching everything near them to ash burning all that is known to them in hopes it might melt their lovers feet to the ground lest they find someone less damaged I have never been awestruck by calm, sunny days but I have been struck breathless by hurricanes of every making You are a hurricane wrapped in flesh, impossible to not adore impossible to not surrender to the destruction that awaits © 2016 Amber Dawn AginAuthor's Note
