Gone

Gone

A Poem by Andrew Michael Bennett
"

A poem I wrote the day after my grandmother passed away.

"

I'll miss you with every last breath,

All the time I mourn your death.

Why did you have to leave,

You'll be in my mind like an arm in a sleeve.

My heart goes after you,

Even when the day is through.

But I'll rejoice,

For now you hear Jesus' voice.

It can't get any better than that,

You'll wear happiness like a hat.

Never will it fade,

Always will it be fresh.

Whatever your age when you wrote this, or the odd bit that is a little clunky maybe, it is a warm way of accepting loss, appreciating the good and remembering these aspects of a person, and being able to be positive and wish well for the departed. The sort of poem that would be good to give to people who are grieving and help them in their moment of pain.
