Elegy for a Sock

My fuzzy friend,

I will never forget all the winters you kept my piggies toasty

I will always remember the wonderful way you lined my feet

And saved the insides of my shoes from rotting away

Though you may have grown tattered and worn

And your shelf life was only a few months

I am still grateful for all the times you cut the circulation off to my feet

Because my ankles are just too big for your tight seams.

Nevertheless, you still kept my feet warm despite my never ending frustration

And even though today

You are making your final demise

And I will move on ever so quickly

I know that you keep me in your stitching

And there I shall stay

Even when they pummel you into the ground

And you rot away
