The Clash of ColorsA Poem by SydneyI wrote this poem many years ago but it still remains one of my favorite personal pieces.
Radiant Red and Brilliant Blue,
form the base of basic colors Once fighting for the right to dominate the color wheel. Red is vain as hot as salsa a strawberry daiquiri sweet as a candy apple or sometimes as plain as raspberry jam. His sisters, Azalea Flame, Rose Geranium, Spring Tulips, all burst with the beauty of princess pink pompous and precious. His brothers, Ocean Sunset, Fall Leaf, Orange Marmalade, fierce as flames, fighters like fire strong and stubborn although not as bright as... HIs cousins, Chilled Lemonade, Pineapple Delight, Marigold, Golden Nugget, all a shower of the shining sun exploding with glee optimistic and exultant. But on the other side the cold eyes watch born from deep in the ocean, the cool colors they are. Blue is icy a glacier lake, frozen rain first place in every race Still a child at heart baby blue a robin's egg blueberry popover magic on a wizard's cloak. His sisters, Ariel's Song, Salty Seaweed, from the month of March deep in the ocean uncommon yet popular calm and collective. His brothers, Lime, Antique Moss, Grape Vines, sprouting from a forest fern cultural as a Spanish olive a mint ice cream delight thrifty and thriving. Then the wise strom waters floating to and fro a raincloud angry with thunder an old veteran filled with strategies. For ages and ages the paint balls flew clashing and splashing greedy for power. White, like an angel, tried to make peace. Black lured them on until one day when Red and Blue faced off and slipped and smashed into each other something was born. Sweet Dreamer, Lilac Rose, Morning Twilight, a mix of royalty playful and generous. Purple For then they discovered they could live together for purple formed peace, and from that day on the rainbow was complete.
