Our Love

Our Love

A Poem by Amanda Zaborowski

I compare him to the strongest of drugs.

He is a drug that day after day, continuously, gets injected into my heart.

A drug that keeps me high on days that I lose faith, and feel hopeless.

I fear that I'll find comfort in his presence,

that I'll get used to this high...

And one day he'll awaken to realize that he no longer wants to inject me with this feeling.

Without hesitation he'll desensitize,

leaving my love-struck heart feigning for his slavish:

Unbinding drug.
