you're overrated.

you're overrated.

A Poem by Amanda Jane
"

5/30/10.

"
she pulled him closer,
rested her forehead against his.
"honey, i know your act,
and i've played this game before.
there are only so many
boys in bands one can take
until they all sound the same."
just some lost soul,
crying into the chords he
produces on some s****y acoustic;
thinking he can suck her in
with the promise of writing a song for her.
but after a while,
the chords all sound the same
and the words mix together
into one long note set to music,
and all she can decipher is
desperate cries for someone to cry with.
"you don't want me, baby.
i'll destroy you."
and she knows this game,
the flirtatious nature and then
the allure of something much
deeper and more emotional.
they all do it.
it's part of their job.
keep girls enticed with promises
of being the inspiration to their
next lullaby,
but it never really means anything.

she touches her nose to his,
and walks away.
this one was for him,
a singer much too over-rated.
