a long tale of my weekend, that's all.

a long tale of my weekend, that's all.

A Poem by Amanda Jane
"

this was pretty much just for memory's sake. i guess it gives an accurate representation of a part of me though, so i'll keep it here for anyone who likes to learn anything about me. 4/12/10.

"
we got in your car, with the
back seat piled high with our bags
and your pillow.
floor board was filled
with my purse and some
tostitos scoops and salsa.
we drove for an hour and
a half, dancing ridiculously
to hardcore music.
got to the condo and
unloaded the car,
greeted my mother.
went to the rec room and we
spent over an hour
playing pinball and shooting games.
got in the car with my mom and we
explored the area,
walking under bridges at sunset,
eating at hooters [your first time].
we got back, watched some
fucked up movie about a woman who
buried her baby alive.
we laughed a little too hard.
when exhaustion took over, we
kissed each other goodnight and
went to bed.

i woke you up the next morning,
held your hand and kissed you
until you woke up enough
to see me beside you.
we got ready,
woke up my mother.
we went to the gardens,
flipped out over the lizards,
took too many pictures.
finally, we went home
and we parted ways.
but only long enough to get
ready for my senior prom.
we met again at my house.
your parents were there,
even my father.
your mother hugged me, told
me that i looked so beautiful.
your father did the same.
we took so many pictures together.
more pictures were taken at
my friend's house, and then we left.

dinner was hilarious.
the bromance began with ronnie.
we took pictures outside of the zoo.
prom was amazing, and we danced
and kissed and just laughed.
after, we all got in the cars
and left for the eastern shore.
we raced across the 26-mile bridge,
the streetlights guiding our way.
we went deep into the middle
of nowhere, passing cemetaries,
abandoned barns, and driving
between trees. we
finally arrived at the house,
and we all explored it.
we spent the night taking walks,
laying on the dock and watching
the stars, playing scattegories,
watching movies.
finally, sometime between when
the clock chimed four and five,
we crawled into bed
and fell asleep together.
after a night of fitful sleep,
i opened my eyes and you
were still there, still by my side.

after we packed up,
we drove back home.
picked up my prom dress.
went back to my house.
too tired to go back home,
you showered here, and
after i did, we made
brownies, pizza, and watched
movies in the floor of my
bedroom, and then videos about
animals having seizures.
after that, you got ready to leave.
but first, you held me close,
and my eyes grew wet with happy tears.
you kissed me over and over,
and you told me you loved me.
that i was the special person for you,
and i was the reason you woke
up every morning.
after many more countless kisses,
i told you goodbye, and goodnight.

so goodbye, to the past year.
goodbye to high school.
this weekend was full of adventure,
kisses, friends, family.
love of every kind.
the best weekend of my life.
