Venom

Venom

A Poem by lovelymarina

Venom is a sacrificial lamb.

In tall grass hidden beneath,
stalking,
waiting,
preying.

Natural instinct’s can only push limits unbounded,
spiraling down the root,
patiently watching with eyes wide,
to her whom keeps eyes wide shut-

because being seen is worth the bite,
and the bleed,
that gushes gently,
from virgin skin.
Choosing to eat the fallen apple,
is quite erotic,
and brushing up shyly against the grass
where he waits,
for the pure and blooming mind
is lively.

So accept the bite,
embrace the bane that flows from the veins to the heart and pulsing arteries,
feel your skin turn cyanotic,
pale,
cold,
and tender.

And love the one who did it.

A nicely mysterious and symbolic poem. Well written. It's interesting to read your profile and wonder if you're describing a dark situation and relationship in your life.

You're very welcome.
Shades of Genesis here? Eating that fallen apple seems rather Eve-like, but I think it is just for symbolic purposes. The speaker here seems to relish the thought of approaching the serpent in the tall grass and loving it when he bites her. Why did I not encounter such ladies years ago?

to love the one who might have given us death of heart, but at least we felt something.
Like in that song where it says "you bleed just to know you're alive"--

what a great last line to finish this...yes, erotic eve approaches adam...
here, bite this...suffer the temptation with me and we shall go down together.
