Life with a Freak

Life with a Freak

A Poem by lovelymarina

I heard they just got off third and vine.
She stepped out adroitly,
with elegance and grace through sorrow,
and knew what was to come,
was not of plush nature.

Before he slammed the door of that blue chevrolet and they walked away,
before everyone got a little taste of her,
before the outside peered in through binoculars,
he admired the radiant sunlight on her poised virgin flesh.

His eyes indulged into the celestial beauty that captivated the rest of them...
before it did.
Admiring every defect that lived on the surface never within,
never deeper.
Filled with the pleasure of losing himself in those radiant green eyes…
oh those eyes…

Time to be social…
Don’t let the eyes wander.
She was to be noticed,
how couldnt she be?
If only he was blind to all but her.

And so the rage began.
He picked at his skin and bit his own lips til they bled-
cried for god but no one to hold his hand
no one to sit on his shoulder and yell at him for his harm,
no one to stop the intrusive traffic that sat at
every
red
light
in his mind.

Just her,
to sit with her hands in her head, yet again,
dealing with the consequences..
of his
never
ending
psychosis.

And back to the car they go,
put up the volume on the radio darling,
it’ll be over soon.

I've often heard of normal people; ordinary people. But I've come to the conclusion that everyone is a little crazy. Perhaps the success of our relationships depends upon how much and what sort of crazy we can tolerate. I'd have to draw the line short of Schizophrenia though. I don't know how to deal with psychopathy other than to keep it at as great a distance away as I can. Unfortunately, I've had to deal with a few crazier than crazy folks in my life. My wife endures my bouts of insomnia and subdued mania. Violent behaviors are never anything anyone should be obliged to tolerate though. I enjoyed the read.

Psychosis and voices. Those awful negative voices. Pity they can't be friendly. Hands on head, yes I've been there. It's not an easy ride being with someone who has many voices, most of them invisible. Felt this one lovely marina.

those voices having their little party in his head...
she had never been with all of him before...just one at a time.
Listen to a few songs, and I will be back, soon I hope.
But, Who are you? Do I know you? Do they?
Oh, you are a friend of theirs?
where is that damn volume switch....I want to turn those voices down.

Your writing has a gritty realistic feel to it. Like I’m standing on Third and Vine, I’m guessing Hollywood, and this scene plays out. The desperation, frustration and outright embarrassment felt in this kind of lapse in mental health. Exhausting. Very good!!

The poem would be a great opening to a epic tale. You tempted my mind. I wanted to know more. You create a interesting situation and I liked how you used the language. Dear Marina. I love how you use the language and you twisted a outstanding poem. Thank you for sharing this amazing tale.
