That Day

That Day

A Poem by Amanda Reynolds
"

A reflection

"

Okay, so maybe this is a poem,

Or maybe it isn’t,

But I need to tell a story of how my beloved friend,

Once asked me to walk a dog for her, that looked

Like a wolf.

When I entered that apartment,

I came upon a wolf (an actual wolf).

I called my friend and told her so,

She laughed and said it wasn’t,

 and to walk it anyway,

And I did.

Thankfully, everything worked out that day,

But how could she not see that this

Was a wolf?

And how could she not see

That she was living with a more dangerous

Human form, of this “called” wolf?

Until it was too late.

I only wish that it worked out for her,

That day,

As it did for me.

I think a human wolf is way more dangerous than a real wolf...the real wolf will attack when it needs to for food, for survival....but the human wolf just attacks to satisfy its need to impress its pack.
Great metaphor....and metaphorically, I would love to have seen the expressions of those you passed on the street with your friend's wolf.
