Raven ink group, Romping through a muddy field

Raven ink group, Romping through a muddy field

A Poem by Amanda Reynolds

Romping through a Muddy Field

Freedom is a childhood,

Romping through a muddy field,

With your best friend,

Mud spashing on the back of your calves

As you gasp for breath

and laugh… and go on

to do it again.

Love is when you don’t want to let someone go,

And they want to hold you just the same,

Heartbreak is when,

life gets in the way.

Your stanzas really touch the emotional funny bone, . Those muddy romps with a friend wrapped in laughing makes such a wonderful memory! Your second stanza is somehow deeper, an emotional springboard.. one so many would understand: wanting to be kept by someone special or to keep someone special. Yes, laugh certainly does get in the way. But there again.. losing life is.. ? Thank you for sharing your words, they quite subtly probe for more.

Amanda,
That's it! That's the problem! We outgrew romping... I'm 75, and all I need is someone to hold my hand when I need a good one... and a helmet. And a cane...

This is really a wonderful save...
Being carefree and on own adventure...
A fun filled childhood days..

Damn pesky growed up life gets in the way of all the fun!
And I bet it never once crossed your mind you'd be in trouble... until that long walk home snd thoughts of mum sighing at yet more washing being added to the pile.
Yep, freedom really is childhood, at least before and hopefully after you've been scrubbed clean to within an inch of your life! 😃
