To a Mouse (a true story fashioned after the classic poem)
You jumped into to my dog’s bowl today, And he did not attempt to kill you, because he was so confused, As you swam and swam in perfect circles, In the sterling silver bowl.
I was astonished and impressed as I came upon the scene, And rushed to rescue you, I ushered you to the bathroom, in the bowl Away from the dog,
And you leapt before I could figure out what to do with you, A swan song of survival,
Yet now I wonder what you will do In this new room, all alone.
