Duality

A Poem by Amanda Reynolds

A reflection on life, death, loyalty, indifference, and everything in between on a scene I witnessed today

"

Duality and Indifference

Birds,

At first I thought,

How brave those little birds were,

In the mix with the hawk, who seemed not to care,

Until I realized one little bird was squawking and buzzing around the hawks head,

And the other little one was dead in its clutches.

It was so beautiful and tragic,

How one bird needed to eat,

One bird was gone,

And the last refused to let it go.

You have quite a hold of the craft Amanda. I don't have much else to say other than, I like reading you quite a lot.

To see such a sight is both emotionally painful and - a sharp reminder that Nature is raw and stark. It might show less than Man's war, wholesale slaughter in exodus, etc' but -it hits the mind, heart and more with a mighty blow, Amanda.
