a poem about the love of reading

A book is not yours until you break

Open the spine

Until you circle all of the characters names

And star your favorite parts

Until you write in the margins

And bookmark all the knowledge

That you will keep, with you

For years

A book is not truly yours

Until you finish it, and pass it along

Keeping alive, it’s sweet

Or bitter song…

Very true, especially the passing on part...that is what keeps a book alive.
