Autumn

Autumn

A Poem by Amanda Moubarak

like a tree
am losing the leaves
it's time to let go
everybody leaves

falling down
yellow and brown
the real colors of grief
hope pain will be, like your presence, brief

damaged
generally tired
something has changed
the layer at top has aged

rewired to self-destruct
but renewal is essential in the cycle of life

they always leave the tree
that's why it's called autumn leaves
i hear them crumble under my feet
sweet sound of beautiful torture
letting go of the past to move on to the future

they keep falling, is that why they call it fall?
maybe goodbye is a good thing after all

Autumn or fall is a season of decay for me, followed by death and then in spring comes rebirth and renewal. Your lines are full of imagery. Some goodbyes aren't forever. They are part of a cycle of change we have to adjust to.
