Slaughtering One Another....

Slaughtering One Another....

A Poem by Amanda J. S.
"

Hm...

"

Slaughtering One Another...

The blood is flooding the streets of this Earth.

We are slaughtering one another.

We are aiming for our opponents’ hearts

And repeatedly pierce our target.

When this happens

The others’ hearts are torn to pieces

And it takes a long time,

If not an eternity,

For the pieces to entwine again.

Each individual reacts differently to a broken-heart:

Some get depressed,

Some anxious,

Some furious,

And some even psychotic.

I just have one question:

Why?

Why do we sometimes take pleasure in hurting others?

Revenge

Some say

But I don’t think that’s it.

I do not know what else it can be

But I intend to find out.

I feel like people sometimes just have evil tendencies and they have a mental problem that they hadn't gotten taken care of. Some people grow up to be that way just because of the way they grew up. One reason is they could have been abused as a child and want to take it out on another person. I also agree that war is just another excuse to cause violence. I just wish people were more kind hearted and loving. This was a great piece. I really enjoyed reading it.

Love? is it good or evil thre is nothing worse than a broken heart

Ego, insecurity, and lust.

These are the things that inspire evil in the hearts of mankind. Ego enables one to see another as less than ourselves, not deserving of the same rights and privileges. Our insecurities are numerous, ranging from low self-esteem to xenophobia. Our ego forces us to overcompensate in terrible ways to make us feel better about the insecurities. Lust, fueled by ego and insecurity, drive us to take what we do not have, what we do not need, from those around us.

This is the root of all conflict, the darkness that exists in the soul of humanity. It is something we can never completely conquer. Because the moment a child understands that one thing is superior to another, developing individuality and personal preferences, the floodgates have been opened.

One typo. In the last sentence of the poem, I believe the word you meant was "intend", as its definition means you plan or aim to accomplish something.

A nice, thought provoking piece. Well done.

Thank you! :-)
Interesting. Does this line need a tweak: "The others’ hearts are teared to pieces" - I think you meant to write "The others’ hearts are torn to pieces" ; but I could be wrong. If that's the case, sorry.

You are right :-)
Very interesting and a good write. I think we do this because maybe of the times we have been hurt? Maybe it is part of our growing process... you are right though it takes an eternity to heal.

Thank you :-)
Humanity is born evil. It is our human side. It is constantly at war with our spirit side
We are evil and in such we take pleasure in the pain of others. We may feel guilty later but we do
