Black Cat
A Poem by
Amanda J. S.
:-)
Black Cat
You ran across my lane
That hazy September night.
Since then,
a lot has happened
A lot of glee,
A lot of flee,
A lot of absent lee.
Sometimes I wonder:
“What if you hadn’t ran across my lane?”
“What if I’d missed all that fleeing?”
Fleeing from my bad luck?
Would I be at the place I am today?
That place of understanding?
I don’t think I would.
So,
Thank you,
Black cat.
Thank you for running across the lane
The lane I was driving on
That hazy September night.

Oh my! Fantastic poem! And you MUST read my work, 'Nine Lives'. I think you'll find they go hand-in-hand! And keep writing miss!

Great work, Amanda. Yes, we need to be exposed to certain conflicts in life to help understand who we really are.

Glad that you agree :-)
I like how the poem addresses how without hard times in life we might not be where we are today or at least helps us to appreciate the good times. Nice job Amanda

I love how much this poem relates to the myth, it seems so simple and close to home. I liked the poem, not my favorite from you, but good none the less. Keep up the good work, and remember, don't make a goal when it comes to poetry, let whatever comes, simply come to you.

This is great, but is the person in the poem dead? Just curious
