A universal truth. Darkness is defined by its relation to light. You have also just described the relationship of good and evil. For what is one in the absence of the other?
I think, however, that darkness, as a force, is stronger than light. Light wanes, fades. It goes out. When that occurs, darkness is there waiting. At the edge of the brightest, most enduring light, darkness lurks, waiting for its counterpart to grow weak. Even the Bible of the three Abrahamic faiths clearly state that before light, there was only darkness.
It was there first and it will be there at the last.
I am FREAKED! of the dark. I was locked in a dark room once and was found crying and cradling myself in the corner...can't stand darkness! GOOD POINT! to make me think otherwise.
