Locked Cages

Locked Cages

A Poem by Amanda Gray

You were the only constant,
My safe haven.
They tore us apart,
and that's when I caved in.

I numbed myself
and just let it happen.
Seeing the pain in your eyes
almost killed me back then.

After these long years,
I've thawed out my brain.
I feared the love might be gone.
But my feelings are the same,
I just pray to God I'm not too late.

It seems like you're happy
but I can tell you're faking.
And writing this right now
my hands can't stop shaking.

You made me believe
it was fate that brought us together.
But if that's not the case,
and this is truly the end,
with all the tears and all the pain,
for you,
I'd do it again.

"with all the tears and all the pain,
for you,
I'd do it again." love this!!!
This is the test, would we do it all again, yes we would if it was love.
great poem,
thanks for entry into my competition on love.
Julie.

i really relate to this, as i feel this towards someone from deep in the past...and if she showed up on my porch suddenly...we might fall right back into who and what we were back then...as for now, she is happy, and i am happy for her...and circumstances just didn't work out right for us back then.
this has much emotion in it...much honesty and rawness.
