Mermaids

Mermaids

A Poem by amanda

Mermaids

At the top of the hill lay a place so still there was a rumor it was dead

no one in the village could for-see what was a-head.

At the bottom of the lake were mermaids sleep

lay a place so deep

it was a rumor it led down to hell

the villagers knew too well

There was a man climbing that top in search of wealth and fame

I think you know his name

Stirring the voices of old

releasing their breaths so cold

To creep down the hill

to reach a village left at the mercy of their will

slaying us in our sleep

sending us past mermaids into the deep
