My Christmas Wish

Just some thoughts / feelings that I kind of put into a poem.. I'm not sure about it, but if you decide to take the time to read it, thanks (:

Christmas lights line the street,
Tons of presents under the tree,
All I can think of is him, though,
And wonder if he's thinking of me.

It's our first winter together,
Our love will soon be a year old,
But he isn't here with me,
Cuddling me all through the cold...

The season is oh so joyful,
There are smiles everywhere,
But all I do is watch from afar,
And wish that I could be somewhere...

Enjoying his comfort and warmth,
His strong, but pleasant arms,
His perfect smile and adorable laugh...
With him keeping me from all harm...

I can't though, so I just sit and watch,
Taking in all the happiness around,
Then I think of the true love of my life,
Who isn't near enough to be found...

Amanda...... you carry the weight of love upon a mind that protects it by the very fact that it does not consume you. It keeps you. It grows with you, and through your poems, even WE can see it. What hand should hold yours to call it so, for his does not seem or allow itself to be known as anything less than perfect when in your company. You are so beautiful. This is so lovely and bittersweet. I can feel a lot of rich, honest emotion in this and it breaks my heart in a way. But you've written this so beautifully... I love it. You indicate you are new to writing, but I would not be able to detect it from this poem as your rhyme is good, and your thoughts are consistent from start to finish!
It is a well constructed piece with an easily understood message.
The season would be so much better if you could be with the one you care for with fondest of affections!! It is difficult to watch from afar!!

Even though this is about someone missing a lover, this still really hits home for me this holiday season. I really miss my Uncle right now, so this I really felt what you were trying to convey through this poem.

The rhyme scheme is lovely, and the imagery, too. It feels Christmas-y, but a lot less cheerful.

You have a knack for writing, and I look forward to reading more from you!

Yeah :/ we lost my grandpa in September, but he had been suffering for months, so I think he's in a better place now. Christmas definitely won't be the same without him though :(

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. But you just have to remember that as long as they are remembered and those memories are cherished, they're never completely gone.

I think this is a nice poem.I like it.I like this part the best:
