Love Is a Roller Coaster

Not sure how I feel about this one.

Looking back on things,
Before I knew you...
Life was meaningless,
Didn't know what to do.

What I wanted,
Well I thought I knew,
But things really changed,
When I luckily met you.

I was suddenly happy,
Smiling all the time,
Things had really changed,
And I really didn't mind...

But then we faced a problem,
You had to decide between two,
I'm glad you chose me,
And proved your love was true.

All of these months later,
We're still happy together,
I'm still glad you chose me,
And I'll still love you forever.

Love is a roller coaster,
There are always ups and downs,
How we survive them, though,
Shows if love has truly been found...

bittersweet obstacles of love, somehow I always get excited that i'm on the front row of the coaster.. and then when life hits me in the face like a coaster on the drop.. I wish I wasn't so scared to be sitting in the front, wish I could be one of the back bencher's and not face love/life head on cause like most good things in life, the joy ride is over before you know it. Great Write though, Love your imagery and expressiveness. It feels good to imagine what love is like, through your poems. Keep writing you're so talented.

Such a powerful metaphor so many can relate to... that life is filled with the ups and downs... those joys and sorrows... That love can bring so much happiness, but it doesn't wipe away the sorrows... I wish it could.. Just glad you show us that real love can survive.. it can help us get through anything... any darkness... That is real love.. Yes... It lasts... So glad for that and thrilled you've found it... Couldn't have happened to a more wonderful girl!

Not only is love like a roller coaster, but so is life. The twists and turns of a rusted track, jerking you around every corner that you fear. Like love, plain life comes with many a surprise. I decided to read this poem because of the title. Roller Coasters have always intrigued me. Also, I'm not so sure if it's right that I'm saying this, but they thrill a lot of people. We love excitement that our regular lives can't honestly provide, leaving us no choice but to simulate joy. Your poem also emits the giggly joy of having a crush. The weird feeling of not knowing what the other thinks of you. We, as humans, are hard to please but if we find joy in someone it is contagious. We want the joy to spread. We want to love the person. A tender, previously broken heart is curious what will happen if they have a second chance at love. Life wonders what will happen next. Nicely penned!

Oh my freaking gosh, Amanda! I'm glad that I read this poem of yours since I can really and totally relate to this right about this time. I met a guy a couple weeks back named Aaron. He's the sweetest, cutest, and funniest guy I've ever met. He's completely different than all of my ex-boyfriends from the past. Bad things have been happening to me, and I think God knew that I needed something to bring happiness back into my life. Of course it most definitely worked! I've been smiling and in a better mood with him in my life. Last night he asked to be my boyfriend. There was no hesitation. I immediately answered "yes", since I've been thinking of what I'd say or think if he asked me that question. You're right, love is a roller coaster. I've mostly experienced the downs but lately it's been all ups. I pray and thank God every single day for Aaron, because also he's helped me out of writer's block. The poem "You're All That I Want" is written about and inspired by Aaron. Great job, indeed! :)
