Love that you end with the truth about being perfect, that it is impossible. I've driven myself insane with trying to be perfect. I may not have regained my sanity, but I have stopped striving to be perfect. I achieved this by not allowing what others thought of me to bother me. What I discovered was that I put all the pressure on myself, not others. Great poem, lots of reflection.

But I think that the closest to perfect you can be, is when you get to that place when you're happy with yourself and who you are, when you finally stop trying to change to please others, or changing to be like others because you think that they're perfect.. Or closer to it anyways. I think everyone just needs to learn to be content with themselves, that's as perfect as we can get(:

i would have stopped with the next to last stanza..."that can't ever be undone" is a perfect ending.
this reminds me of marge percy's "Barbie Doll"
we kill ourselves meeting up to expectations...instead we need to just be who we are and be happy with that...life is too short to live it for others.

"I'll still strive to be perfect,
Expectations require me to,
Won't ever achieve it though,
It's impossible to do..."
It shows even though you know you can't be perfect, you'll still be the best you can be, even if right now it's not because 'you' want to be. Heh, nobody can be perfect that's for sure, but we can just 'be', why can't that be good enough? Nice poem!
Great sentiment and feeling. So much pressure. Only rats are tied to the tread-wheel. Let yourself be you.... don't try to be somebody else's perfect .. don't feel forced to be plastic... .by the time you get there everything will have changed. be unique ... be perfectly unique ... don't airbrush your soul away .. Keep expressing your thoughts ... keep smiling ... keep writing. This poem could become the very coolest song.... the cry of your generation against the industries that want your money and your mind.
Well that's my message for the day... and I'm the coolest grand father in the clock...tick...tock!
Perfection is an impossible thing to give . Even though so many people expect it . The idea of perfection within our society contains nothing but corruption . It is sad that so many people believe that the way they are is not good enough . We are born with flaws for a reason . Our flaws make us unique .
I know this feeling to well, and so does most every other teenage girl. It brings this feeling to perspective and points out that we try to be perfect when, does anyone really know what perfect is? Love this

I think this poem speaks to every teenage girl's heart...I do truly love it. It's women's literature at best. :) It really makes me wonder "Why do we have to be perfect?"

First I must say You are perfect no matter what anyone says. In today's world we are so consumed with finding the "Perfect" that we tend to forget the "Real". Just being yourself is perfect. I can say that being what Hollywood perceives as perfect is just a glamorous real. I think you did a great job in this poem and you painted this picture with the "Perfect" amount of "Real". Great job! Really made me think!
