You didn't do anything wrong. A true friend wouldn't leave you, use you, or betray you. A fake friend isn't worth your time. I like the change of direction here. It started out a bit worried and upset, but then as it described the kind of friendship it changed and became almost annoyed with everything those "friends" put you through. Nice work!

I think it has definitely saved me a lot of heartbreak. And as for the change of direction, that's just my thought process, hahhaa :P but thank you! (:

the friends worth keeping are the ones who will stick with you no matter what, and will respect you for who you are.
the others?
it is their loss.
this is quite mature in its delivery and theme...
like it.
you have a talent, keep writing.

Friends are people that we're supposed to enjoy being with, not people that are always causing us to shed tears. And thank you, I am very glad that you enjoyed it (:
Me, MACHO!! Me won't say that "I" cry. .... : ) A darling poem and a darling example of really having quite the grounded self-confidence to challenge the absurd "normalcy" that other people go through with their cliques, new friends, status amongst their peers, etc..... I actually felt the same way your poem hints at in places, where losing my friends to life itself, leaving me to basically find myself again in the faces of strangers but with THEIR confidence they gave me when they were around. When I was always told to grow up, even before knowing what that meant, I always felt a step behind going through the kinds of "growing pains" that are mentioned openly in this poem. You have a clever way of pulling me into you, and the cutest little whispers in your advice you give us while sharing with us, poems straight from the heart and gut, are an awesome "tell" to your beautiful character!! I won't assume to figure out how, but I know in some way, YOU are going to change some lives for the better just by being YOU and the way you write and protect your own heart. Great job!! Beautiful, Amanda. xoxo -Mark

In the course of a year's time, I took experiences of living in an abandoned asylum, being neglected, being dropped off at an orphanage to be "taught a lesson", my night terrors that haunted my days, walking in on friends that were "hanging", falling in love..... and back out again, my sister dying, and loving the process of storytelling....... Oh, and one more thing!! Meeting someone like you on a site like this, where you get to enjoy something about me without the boundaries of age and experience, proves to be a great exercise in empathy and apprenticeship...... should you ask for my advice and try to apply it to what YOU write, and vice versa also!! xoxo -Mark
Fake friends are just the worst. Once they start treating you like s**t that's when you know that they aren't true. A true friend would be there for you through anything. At least you would be able to trust them. If they were using you then say goodbye and walk away and then they realize that they lost someone truly amazing. I liked the flow of the poem. Thank you for sharing.

That is soooo true, I'm just done with it. Thanks so much (:
Friends and soon to not be friends never cease to amaze. The truth and respect should always begin from within yourself. That seems to scare away the bad people and welcome the new beginnings of a better life.
I'm a fourteen year old who knows absolutely nothing about writing, but I try to make the best of it.
