Ghostling

Ghostling

A Poem by amanda_joy

Deceptively simple
the old photo you sent
of that windblown girl

Some jagged arrangement
of cheekbones and arms

Jutting out of nine hole boots
a little comedy of red knees
pulled in close as kittens
to hide a budding chest

The shapes you gave
those grey shadows
The rash of textures
that was a makeshift bed

There again she is
cocooned in her only clothes

The pretty ghostling
whose every exposure
overlooked her age

Amanda, I just adore your lines: "...Some jagged arrangement of cheekbones and arms...Jutting out of nine hole boots...a little comedy of red knees pulled in close as kittens..." Your expressive imagery just blows me away. My God, you are an amazing writer. Please tell me you will have a book out soon. I need to have your writings on my nightstand.

Don't you love it when something as simple as a photo gives inspiration to write a poem. I can almost see her in my mind as I read this. The poem has a desolate, nearly cryptic, feel. I like it.
