The Alcoholic

The Alcoholic

A Poem by AAB88

& they say that the alcoholic is a womanizer, a humors person filled with quick come backs & a sly smile. How we clench our stomachs with passion & beat our fists on walls when we love someone. We don't like long walks on the beach, we prefer to lay in a cold low lit room as we smoke our half lit cigarettes. Most of us are writers, our souls stolen by tiny demons that live in our heads. Knowing people would call us foolish if we choose to live in the middle of nowhere with just our type writer & our empty thoughts. We become sober misfits. A cocky son of a b***h. A misunderstood lost soul that is forever trying to be found. Forever screaming apologies at the ones we love for the nights we grabbed you out of fear, or the time we yelled at you in the kitchen for no reason. & when we find a women that will love us we think she is crazy. We need someone to grab our chin when we get unruly, to tell us no, even though we don't hear it enough. We find ourselves exhausted often because thinking such passionate thoughts leaves us out of breathe & broken. We never make love, we only pin your hips down to a bed with too many pillows & not enough blankets. We cuss like sailors & always say things that sound arrogant & dirty. We are one of a kind, but never too hard to find.
