Stay Strong He Says

So I should have put this up for Father's Day but it didn't come to me till today. This is for all the guys out there.

Stay strong
He says
With his cut up arms
Right in my face
Stay strong
He says
As my hair grows weak
And I go bald
Stay strong
He says
As he leaves
Fighting a war
He can never win
Stay strong
He says
As our memories fade
And we don't even know our names
Stay strong
He says
As he leave for work
Only to return the next week
With nothing but a sad smile
Stay strong
He says
But No dad
No uncle
No gramps
No honey
You stay strong
And I'll stay strong
For you to lean on

Author's Note

I got this when I was in the kitchen eating and trying to understand a recurring dream I keep having about this boy with cuts on his arm, In the dream as soon as I see him I start crying and he says stay Strong then I help him clean up and say at the the end No you stay strong. Yup a sad dream started this poem if anyone wanted to know how this poem came to be.

I enjoyed it. I can't say it's my favorite type of poetry, but it definitely tells a story and a message. The reason you wrote it actually makes it more sense. I think some editing would help it. Like each stay strong in quotation marks since it's coming from the guy who's cutting his arm. I'm guessing the guy cutting his arm is playing the hypocrite since he's taking the easy way out, using the pain as an anesthetic. Nice job overall. I like the shift at the end.

I didn't put quotation marks because it's talking about different situations different men might face, also they are not only saying Stay strong to the people in their life but also to themselves.

Also I did put the first part because of my dream but I also left it there because I think he's talking to himself or he's talking to someone with the same problem who when they see it they even get more upset, he's trying to fix himself, or he has already fixed himself and is trying to help someone else out.
