Well-Bred Circles

Well-Bred Circles

A Poem by amailleia
"

Setting: The King's Court, England, Under the Reign of His Majesty King Henry VIII

"

Have you ever been part of a well-bred circle?

Part of the elite in a crowd?

Do you know what it is to hold power?

Do you seek ever after the throne above yours?

We are the luxurious,

The plush,

The posh,

The beautiful.

We spend money most people dream of

On things most people never hear of.

We wear our masks

Along with our diamonds

And we wear them with pride.

We bask in your envy

And you never would suspect

We wish

We were just like you.
