Leave a tender moment alone

Leave a tender moment alone

A Poem by andrew mitchell

When my left testicle
came crashing down
onto the bike’s crossbar.

I like to start the story now.

As the German shepherd
tore out of the blocks
and grabbed hold
of my leg pants
while riding the 27 inch high
push bike I got for Christmas
I was delivering papers at the time.

The snarling dog , all teeth
ripped my pants
from the groin
the stitches became stressed
as I was.

The ordeal seemed forever
however, I managed to pedal
faster than a speeding bullet
when the canine monster loosened its grip
only to see the dog give up the chase
looking over my shoulder.

Oh yes! I nearly forgot
back to the testicle
It hurt! Enough to bring
a tear to the eye
and my paper throwing days….
they abruptly ended.
And in case you are wondering
I didn’t lick my wounds.

And why am I
telling you all this now?
Well, we didn’t have
social media back then.

A painful situation you paint as a lighthaerted incident and almost blending humor !! imagining your situation while managing to cycle with the papers I cringed but also grinned as your absurdity continued .. but also think about the pain and your difficulty in those young or childhood days.. Glad you shared!
