The noose around a word hangs

The noose around a word hangs

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I hereby sentence you, word
to a line not of your liking
whereby you will swing
with the flow until
your meaning is no more.

Shriek not my little word
for your adjectives
will not save you
only the verbs
will carry your name.

i enjoyed this darkly comical piece. words are our friends but they can sometimes be despised. and wishing to punish them in some way is a feeling most people have but very few are able to express properly. this playful poem made my day a little better. thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much Ern and for stopping by.
The sheer intensity here, reminded me of a judge; delivering his stern verdict in a court. When experiencing writer's block, I have occasionally felt that internal angst of frustration.

I like too, the original and surreal nature of this brief piece.

Thank you so much Twilight.
AHHH ... that is some good personification. Why must you be so cruel to your words ... I almost feel like you meant your emotions ... but I suppose that couldn't be it. Clever, clever piece:)
