Mastering English contradictions for beginners

Mastering English contradictions for beginners

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I was clearly misunderstood
and my only choice
was to act naturally
amongst a small crowd
before things got pretty ugly.
I was found missing
on a working holiday,
the exact time- day, time
I’m not sure.
It was a tragic comedy
some called it foolish wisdom.
I thought it was seriously funny.
My doctor called it
a bad case of English contradictions.
I didn’t reply
I was fully empty.

Chaotic language at its best…. no wonder we understand each other… HNY! Federation Square? Quiet one for us at home.

Well, I wish I have the authority like the emperor to fix all the contradictions.
Now, your dictions put smiles on your secretaries.

You are welcome Emperor Andrew.
How cruel is your kindness! You are hereby dubbed His Royal Oxymoronship - the uncrowned king.
Delightful read. Thank you for the smile!

Thank you Lisa, love your response lol.
Great, er, lovely, er, tremendous, er, magnificent, er extraordinary use of language. Those are my principles written down. And if you don't like them. Well, I have others.

Good ole Groucho.
Being English near enough purely (maybe!) I agree wholeheartedly but - Latin, Greek, Anglo Saxon and other hints from here and there long ago roots, have grown into something that influence our extraordinary language 'something rotten'! Or similar. :)

Clevah! Be happy, sir!
i really liked the natural voice of this poem. it feels almost like having a conversation. and i can relate to your story. a bad case of English contradictions is a viral disease. it made me laugh a little, glad you got through that awkward episode with a grin, or i should say a grimace.
