Ready for take off?

Ready for take off?

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Took a poem out
for a test drive
but it wasn’t geared
to leave the paper
and the write
didn't have a license.
When the sun got to it
the poem OD on vitamin D
the paper started to yellow.
Eventually, the poem
was towed away
to the wreckers
where all those lines
are broken down
into letters
to be recycled
to form a new poem.
Hopefully, this time
the poem will fly
but don’t count on it,
it’s lost the meaning
and its wheels in motion
are also flat.
Nothing like a good compost won’t cure.
