Cockroach conversation at the banquet dinner table

Cockroach conversation at the banquet dinner table

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Enjoy the feast everyone, dig in.
The potatoe peels are delicious.
How was your day Cynthia?
I had a shocking day.
I was touched by a human
rummaging in the cupboard.
How dreadful!
It was so repulsive to be touched
by a human I tell you. Such dirty creatures.
What did you do?
I ran away and have been
compulsively cleaning myself all day.
Happened to me once, I was so shocked,
I dropped my pupae.
Really?
Yes, they are disgustingly filthy.
Dread the thought.
Can we change the subject?
Oh! I can. I was watching the insect channel.
Did you know,
if there was a nuclear war,
we would be the only survivors.
What! No humans?
Yes! No humans.
I’ll drink to that.
So will I.
Hear! Hear! Let us toast
to no more humans.
Hooray! Hooray!
Cheers everyone!
Perish the thought!
Oh! Look at the time.
Got to scuttle.
Tally Ho!

Thank you Sir
Andrew,
Ah, the delights of enlightened poetry! I love this one. I have encountered those little buggers now and then, from the slimy little German types to the giant Palmetto bugs in Florida, two inches long with wings and teeth...
Great poem! Needs a publisher!

Thank you Thomas.
Is that called 'turning the table'? Read this three times and as I was about to read again, I realised that you could be right. We are who we are, us human beings.. arrogant, thoughtless, scything down the length of anything that stops our intentions. We are both the shadows or invisible perpurtraitors (brain lapse)who eat our way through life as if it was ours alone. Wrong! Both wit and warning that big brother cockroach has us mere humans in sight!
