The wisdom of Guru Dilmah

The wisdom of Guru Dilmah

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Guru Dilmarh, bhow do your tea leaves read today?
They read quite well thank you,
and who may you be?
I am the Earl of Grey, Guru Dilmah.
I think you are English Breakfast!
No hang on! Your aroma suggests Russian Caravan.
Or maybe you are Assam gold. Don’t tell me!
I find it hard to read, tea bags.
Give me pot any day!
Lapsang Souchong, how are you?
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire!
You black smoky devil you!
Thank you Guru Dilmah and
what news does your leaves
bring today?
I predict your bag will burst
and your leaves will be scattered
as you soak for awhile and later
your leaves will be splattered
in and around the front teeth
of the drinker for all to see.
Thank you honourable Guru Dilmah.
Don’t mention it! Nothing quite like
a good cup of tea.
