A Poem by andrew mitchell

In the world of poetry today
a capital letter was united
with a full stop for the first time
through careful editing.
The critics were at loss.
A rogue verse left a stanza
due to a credit dispute
leaving three lines
to soldier on.
Some words are leaving poetry altogether
through a industrial dispute
citing irreconcilable differences
with the title leaving
the real meaning now
up in the air
called cloud nine.
Haiku resigns due to
syllables retiring.
However, a meter has
been reduced to a foot
saving the extinction
of brevity.
Freedom of speech
was not available
for comment.
And now for the poetry weather.
