The party of misunderstandings

The party of misunderstandings

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I’m tapped on the back
by a verse I didn’t know.
Trapped in conversation
by a stanza unknown
I proceed to acknowledge
that all meanings
presented are not
what I have sown
and I find myself
going with the flow
with the view
I’m on my own.

I might misunderstand almost every poem I read...because I look for my own interpretation, not what the poet was thinking when he or she wrote the piece. So most often, I am sure I am way off.
