One small step for me
and it’s one big trip
for mankind.
Having faked my own death
I am now entering
the afterlife.
I’m on the edge
between the two realms
and it’s not looking good folks.
Yes it’s very conclusive
and the evidence overwhelmingly
will be undeniably final.
I reveal that behind
the final curtain
there is nothing,
no audience
no greetings of welcome,
no parades,
just nothing.
Of course,
there is the possibility
that everything is there
but its all invisible
as we have been told
that God is everywhere
but we can’t see him.
So there you have it
mystery solved
and all it took
was a fake death.
did you at least get a t-shirt? it probably cost you everything to die so now you have nothing left with which to live. too much as usual ... :)

Seems there's a time when we can all take a look at death in ways unknown but surmised, ie 'I wonder if.. ' Times when maybe a rehearsal took place. Perhaps been read or told, thoughts nudged, a few imagined steps on stage? You've taken emotions and a type of logic and sense of humour to juggle fact with fiction and made such fine comedy come drama out of it. sir

Who in my mind deserves the 'sir' is knighted by me, myself, sir! :)
I think you're near death, but no demise yet; is this a spoof on God? it seems so, as you show us that we cannot see God, so what is the point of an afterlife? If God is everywhere but we can't see him, then there is nothing to look forward to after demise.....glad it was just a fake death, a trial to see what's behind the curtain..... Very enjoyable...good irony

Thank you Betty , yes just poking some fun at the establishment.
I enjoyed your poem. It reminds me of an often misquoted reference by Mark Twain. Stories of death experiences have always interested me. Some people have been pronounced medically "dead" for over two hours and regained life. They call it "Lazarus Syndrome." Some report strange experiences from their time on the "other side". I had a dream I died once and "went" somewhere. At least I think the dream was about death. Was it "heaven"? I can't really say. It was an open field with flowers and trees and a perfect sky. There were lots of people there, not wearing robes but just regular clothes, though many different fashions. There were chairs and people were being seated and the most beautiful music I've ever heard was playing. I thought I have to remember this tune when I wake up ( my subconscious mind assuring me it was all a dream) Some people were picking up fruit from the trees in baskets and I asked if I could get a basket. A man came and touched my arm and said that I should come sit down and listen to a speech of some sort from another man who was wearing a robe. I told him I really wanted to just get a basket and pick some of the fruit. Then, I woke up. But I couldn't remember a note of the music and it bothered me that I'd forgotten the most important part of the dream to me. It doesn't "mean" anything; just an experience I had a long time ago. But one I can't forget.
I loved the poetry Andrew.

The above line. Answered the oldest question left. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry. I did enjoy.
