Going strong, getting old, still haven't used algebra!

Going strong, getting old, still haven't used algebra!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

While the school of winks
caught my eye,
I was drawn to
the school of naughtiness
on the subjects of life.
But behind all that
was the school of hard knocks
followed by the school of disappointments,
a school of failures
while observing a so called
ministry of successes
all without algebra
so I left school
but too late
I finished every year.
Next time, I'm doing
the school of know how,
the school of perfect timing,
the school of life and
how to use it,
the school of happiness
and the school on watering
a wounded heart to life
while growing wealth
in the garden.

I love your poem. The title is thought-provoking enough, all by itself. Why did we have to learn all this crap like algebra & biology, when in fact (as you point out so astutely) what we really needed was common sense & the ability to steer our lives thru the hailstorms. I may not have used algebra yet, at age 64, but I've finally figured out which people to avoid (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Yes Andrew, the above lines. I need to do. I liked the flow of thoughts leading to the proper ending. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
