No grit, no pearl.

No grit, no pearl.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

In another pearl of wisdom
from none other than
Scottish born Oyster
Kilpatrick himself.

Beware the oyster
that doesn't let go,
it may be a clam,
and no oyster
is home without a pearl.

I'm just telling ye,
don't get your kilts
in a twist
for the world is
not your oyster.

I love how your nebulous shellfish warning could apply to the way we pick the wrong type of shell to try to thrive in or perhaps we have the right shell but no grit to begin the pearl of our life's opus. Some people plan their lives in excruciating detail & blow a gasket when life doesn't cooperate. Others of us just bumble along accepting & enjoying whatever shell-creature mysteries are out there! I like the thinking here. The world has never been my oyster, so I am unlikely to find that pearl. Hope you are doing ok Andrew.

I am not an oyster person either snotty little things!
I do like the logic of your words Andrew. Sometimes we get less than we want. I hope you are doing well my friend and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
