Carry on!

Carry on!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Where is the shepherd?
Where are the sheep?
You sent them to war my Lord.
I see.

Did they all survive?
They were all slaughtered and killed my Lord.
Except for the shepherd, he survived my Lord.
I see! Well that’s good then!

Did we win the war?
No, my Lord.
We did not!
So who is this tyrannical, megalomaniac,
dictator monster we are up against?

The butcher my Lord.
He has that little corner shop
next to the green grocer my Lord.
I see.
Send more sheep, we must win!
Yes my Lord.

What are we all having for dinner?
Your favourite my Lord. Roast lamb.
Oh! Jolly good!
Very well carry on!
Yes my Lord.

' So who is this tyrannical, megalomaniac,

A warped cynicism supreme, Andrew! How true your words, even more so the way you've worded how it is amongst the high and so called mighty who would take us all to the slaughterhouse if it fed his/their insane hunger for.. .. that last creature's left standing.

An incredibly visual piece of writing..

Thank you Em just a satirical look at the top brass!
No woolly concepts here then Andrew! As always you make us read your poetry through the prism of refraction. Original, witty and more to it than 'meats' the eye!

You're very welcome.
A unique concept, Andrew. I could picture his nibs sitting in an over stuffed armchair staring out at empty fields wondering where everyone has gone, more concerned about dinner than death.
I get concerned that the most popular 'games' nowadays are the Warcraft types...but then the players would need to climb out of mama's basement to go to war.

A brilliant piece.

Thank you Ted for your kind review.
Excellent and intelligent Andrew. A true arguement against the waste that war is.

Why thank you Ken
This is an excellent spoof on how leaders seem to be perpetuating wars around the globe without much forethought or concern for the slaughtered lambs. Your sarcasm is laughable & stinging at the same time. When folks celebrate things like "D-Day", I'm reminded of when wars had discrete events, rather than the never-ending drone of warfare & terrorism as things are now (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
