I was no more now....

I was no more now....

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I was no more then
as I was now
but then....
knowing the basic laws of the universe
cause and effect
I wondered...
was I the cause
or the effect?

Looking at the state of the world today, we are both the cause and effect. :))

Beccy.

I think this is what's known as a "conundrum". Keep pondering, Andrew. One day I might actually have an answer for ya! ; )

Beauty. We wonder if we are the stamp or the stamper. Simple and true. I think you might have meant basic and not basics

I'm sure through the years of life we live on this big ball, we--at various times--are both. We can only hope the cause or effect is positive, although we do learn from our mistakes, don't we?

Thanks relic and yes we try to learn from our mistakes and maybe repeat them!
Ponderance of ponderances.... This is a gem of a poem and unsolvable riddle, Andrew- eloquent with symmetry and balance. Succinct, eminently clever with dramatically effective pauses and cadence. So unsettling...hmmmmmm. Cause or effect.....I give up!

Can you have your cake, and eat it, too?

Apparently so - just depends on you. Well, that's what I've heard...

The ouroboros may have your answer.

A real thinking poet's poem, Andrew....

This gives off the old "what came first? Chicken or the egg?" vibe for me. With the excellent addition of scientific and philosophical law applied to it. Makes one want to jump into the old Delorean and travel back in time to find out the answer to your concluding question!

The thoughtful gems keep coming from you. You balance humour and philosophy very well in your expanding catalogue of writes. Always a pleasure to read your works. And this was another wonderful write. Well Done.
