The carnival is over!

The carnival is over!

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

ink on thoughts took me on this ride.

"
The carnival is over.

With the carnival being mine
I gave you unlimited smiles
laid out in miles
for you; striving
to find me........
and you did.

On the carousel of time
we shared.....
a little bit of you,
a little bit of me;
how you enjoyed the ride.

While the ferris wheel of love
took us to new heights,
the roller coaster of life
took us down a peg or two.

At the station we hail, waiting.....
for the inevitable darkness
of the ghost train's whistle,
to return.

Train brakes screech on rusty tracks,
pulling into the dusty plateau,
where memories stir on upward dust;
laughter dies as the cold wind settles.

Replaced by age,
dilapidated with time,
the carnival now looks empty,
but the clowns remain
mouths agape looking on.....
at their own cemetery.

The above lines were my favorite and you took me to some interesting memories. Thank you Andrew for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thank you Lola bee for your words.
How the colors of love and laughter turn to gray and the cinematic shows closes to a bad review.

Al

Thank you Al for your words and dropping by.:)
i'm just glad the clowns aren't staring at me :O/
i could hardly believe my eyes ... its so long sir ;) the metaphors are well paced and the contrast between gaiety and bleak for me is quite jarring and effective ...not your norm for sure ...did you get tricked too much? :)) killer last verse says i! no pun :)
