A nightcap of madness.

A nightcap of madness.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

A nightcap of madness.
In the land of sleep all mine,
confusion rides on insomnia's intrusion.
An unexpected knock, knock
opens to Queen Guinevere
wanting a cup of tea,
as the cow jumped
over its own poo,
the cat curled up
on Arabian Nights,
sleeping.
While the Pipe Piper
lost his flute,
the sheep began to wander
and up in the sky
the shepherd sat
smiling
on the crest of the moon,
poor Alice was stuck
in the Mad Hatter's hat
while a girl ran away with my spoon,
while the wind in the willows
played out a tune
Mr Toad croaked it,
all too soon.
T'was a night of confusion
with insomnia's intrusion
a nightcap of madness
and coloured balloons.
