Ladies and Gentlemen! Give a big hand to...

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Ladies and Gentlemen! Give a big hand to....
After midnight,
the theatre still
enjoyed a cast
of shadows,
not seen for awhile.
Long deceased
actors, actresses
enjoyed the anonymity
of performing their lines,
alone on stage.
The silence deafening
on empty chairs,
not even security noticed
the gaiety centre stage,
as they took a bow
on the final curtain.
