Soul mates!

Soul mates!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Soul mates!
The belief amongst
    Soul mates;
they believe in reincarnation.
Where love has travelled
through the centuries,
two souls find each other
joining hands as one.

But how do I know?
I can't remember
that I lived again,
in love once more
different bodies,
different ages.
Did my love start in the Roman Empire
when she parades in white now
and nothing more.
Followed by a love during
Sir Francis Drake voyages;
our love for sailing ships today.
"Was I there?"
Were my loves surrounded by castles,
dreams of fair maidens,
the moat protecting my anonymity;
I, a king with my queen.
"Who knows, I have no recollections."
"Somehow, I have found
the inheritance of such loves,
has not come through
the centuries of transactions."
"Did all that change
when I got the phone call
from the spirit world?"
" Hi! its me! Heather."
" I'll be wearing a red dress at the parade"
" See you soon my love!"
My hopes were high
until I found out
it was a red parade.

Another intelligent piece of writing, Andrew.

I am not sure about the concept of soulmates myself, but i must admit i do now believe in two people having such a connection that they find themselves thinking alike in many respects. Reincarnation.......now that is another issue.....haha.

The poem ended with a witty twist, something that is always present in your poetry. Another fine piece of writing!

No problem
Always love a cheeky twist! The beginning is quite lovely and I like how you cleansed it with a humorous ending. Great job, as usual ;-)

Thank you A Marie for reviewing, :)
oh bugger bugger s**t s**t ... was she just messin' or did she have no clue? either way she ain't no soul mate ...

I kinda think our only soul mate is the reconnection with the eternal :)

nice twist - you are clever like that X

haha thank you Elizabeth
Awesome end!
I liked the surreal poem but the end got me.
I think the reason of loosing past lives' memories is to start anew, without any premonition. Filled me with much to mull over later.
Beautiful work.

Seems a stark and unreliable thesis at times, though I believe we have to feel soulmates rather than hunt for them, perhaps...interesting topic Andrew...I am not sure soulmates is the term I use, rather a soul flame that lures you when you least expect it...

I love the topic though your take on it is very different from my thoughts about it because first, I don't really believe in reincarnation so your writing made it hard for me to be entirely drawn to it and second your thoughts seem hasty and almost sort of disjointed. I think what you actually wanted to express is finding your soul mate can be very difficult. Fortunately I was lucky to find one, a rare and lovable experience.

(If you're interested in logical stuff scientists calculated the probability of finding your true soul mate once, sadly in mathematical/scientific terms, it'd be almost impossible to meet the one...^^but you never know :))

Yes I could make that out. You're welcome.
The ending got me :~) I like the theme and have even taken part in regression hypnoses with a few friends and from it I am a firm believer in reincarnation so I love what you have here. Another demonstration of your creativity and witty mind, Bravo! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
