A shadow on the run

A shadow on the run

A Poem by andrew mitchell

A shadow on the run.
In a fleeting glimpse,
a nanosecond,
catching my eye
I saw beauty walking,
turning the corner.
I hurried, turned
reaching the bend
her shadow running,
she was gone
only a whiff of.....
perfume remained.

The chance meeting of what could have been slips away... all that remains is the scent of memory dashing. Ever wonder what the other person is thinking when you have the momentary eye contact with a complete stranger? That's what this reminded of. Love the image.

It's like that glance across a crowded room; mostly, you hardly even realise it's happened until it's too late.

Great imagery here andrew.

What a marvelous image you created in this one. Vivid, movielike but 4d sort of because of the fragrance. ;) Nice.

Thanks Vanessa for your words
Isn't it always the way? A glimpse, a scent, a decision to connect, then whoosh, Houdini'd. Sometimes, you gotta just wonder if that perfect woman was a hope rather than a reality, or maybe we just have to run that bit faster to keep up. :)
