The threat on my originality.

The threat on my originality.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The threat of my originality.
Of all my thoughts that
I gave birth.
Originality
was my passion.
But the more I read
contamination breeds
amongst words,
new fashions.
My thoughts inspired are
many a pulled,
stretched in every direction.
For what was mine
are a puppet of thoughts
all new in the making.
My originality of thoughts
that I gave birth
are now lost in
translation.
Multiculturalism
has become me.

A brittle representation of the feelings of a creative person questioning their own originality and ability. As always food for thought!

Thank you Dante:)
i wonder if we ever are completely creative with our poems...do the words come out of thin air, out of our subconscious? are we just parrotting what we have seen and heard before...how hard it really is to be completely original, and i wonder if we ever really are.

Yes Spot on Jacob. you understood Thank you for your words J.
I think that we are benefited by the diversity around us. Isn't that always the way. Would we be were we are now if the Muslims had not brought their wisdom to Europe in the dark ages? No renaissance perhaps?
Some influences are not so good, I agree.
I like this side to your writing mate.

Thank you Anto , this wasn't about society but how my thoughts lose identity when I am either taught.. read more
oh is that a bad thing? to become multiculturalism? I think not - i think perhaps you, like everyone else are like a piece of gum stuck on the tyre of evolution, feeling somewhat outta place until you have been squished back into the realms of eternity once more, back where you came from, unrecognisable and yet at peace with the flow ...

what a piqued mind you have - love that Mr Gum X

we can get lost in all that ... no doubt about it ... there are 12 notes in music ... then they are either higher or lower ... but still the same notes ... look how that blossoms after that!!! and how many words have we?!!! oh my goodness ... yet still we try and many times fail at originality ... love your closing lines ..just the right amount of sarcasm says i! cool write says i!
