How Grim!

How Grim!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Lurking in the shadows
He waits with menace
To knock on your door.
Tall, dark faceless with
Hooded cloak and scythe.

Selections, quotas on his list
His motives, his job, specific.
No bodies No minds!
Your Soul, torn, shredded,
Dead or piecemeal. He collects.
No plea bargains!

When you hear the noise
A piercing, terror shriek
Going through your inner self, chilled.
Your soul is his now
To be dragged through time
To be dammed, disposed.

A grim job!
But some dark force
Has to do the deed
And a smile is extra!

'How grim', indeed... i guess there is no way to avoid it... when the time comes he's always there to collect... by the way, a tall faceless guy stopped by the other night with a scythe... i told him he was late and that I already had the grass around the yard trimmed :) ... sorry, had to say that... a dark write, my friend... good luck with the contest!

What a nice wrap! or is it rap ie kind review! Thank you EGTEN
His smile or my smile is extra? All I know is that I often pray for all of the world to wake up to the fact that Satan exists, but God does also. Which one do you serve? Wake up everyone. Valentine

just a fictional write for the grim reaper's contest! Thank you Kathie
I'm fond of ironic concepts, and I like the idea this presents that somehow there is still an element of customer service involved. Sardonic and amusing and subtly droll. It conjures up the person of Death rather as if his position is officially and euphemistically termed "bailiff"....politically correct, of course.
