My Cirque De La Nuit!

My Cirque De La Nuit!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

When the clown
separates from myself.
His laughter echoes from
fairground Ferris-wheel high,
each cup on wheel,
a thought contained, circles.

I juggle words with
ease, tossed high
Falling on lion's roar.
Within the boundaries:
My circus of dreams nearby.

While my carousel of thoughts:
gone wild, riding the undulations
of life.....  go round and round
travel, gathering momentum.

The spotlights bright
shining tight-rope high.
Balanced are my dreams;
on my trapeze , my thoughts
dangling,....... are released.

In aerial acrobatic
display of thoughts;
free-fall cartwheels flow
Into somersaults spin free.
My thoughts, my dreams........ fly free ....  fly free!

Dreams on balloons near carousel,
by the side-stalls set free;
fly high with colour
roam the heavens,
over my circus flag:
A Rainbow!

On Sultan's swing
outside I sit, eyes grazing
on sparkling dots
that litter the blackened skies.

I catch my thoughts......
My circus of the night!
My "Cirque De La Nuit"
In my circus of thoughts
in thought.....
I slide down my rainbow!

you held tight to your Circus throughout ... reads a little like an exercise for me tho ... i imagine my own self lying in bed unable to drift off ..and your closing line is best ... the image is innocent and very uplifting

Thank you E for your words!
You try, here, to retain the tongue-in-cheek humor you have mastered, but your depth of mind is evident. Though bright and glittering with carnival flair, these thoughts, these images, are profound with layers of meaning and emotion.
It reminds me of a story I once read about God manifesting himself on earth as a barefoot, unwashed smiling madman...or so it appeared, until a human had the courage to look into the face, the eyes, under the smile.

Thank you Amy for a top review. :):)
I like the circus theme applied to your thoughts, or so I interpret it as such. A bohemian rhapsody of sorts. 'Twas a pleasure to read.

My pleasure,keep it safe my friend keep it safe.
very clever - and oh so much we can absorb from a circus - remember when we were kids and we went to the circus ? That first stanza - yeah that's me - I laugh pretty loud - I forget sometimes - hahaha and I don't care.

Not only a lovely trip down memory land - also a lovely jaunt through this 'Andrew Circus Portal Portrayal' :) - just have this vision of you sliding butt forst down that rainbow that never ends and you go full circle and then momentum picks up and I hear you scream 'I was only looking for the pot of Gold!' ahahahaha - don't worry I will rescue you XX
