A Dream by the Moody blues

A Dream by the Moody blues

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

I hope I'm not abusing copyrights I just want to share my favourite of all poems I have read by the moody blues band ( written by Mike Pinder) to those who love poetry. For you alf and other friends

"
The dream by the Moody blues.
When the white eagle of the north is flying overhead
The browns, reds and golds of autumn lie in the gutter, dead.
Remember then, that summer birds with wings of fire flaying
Came to witness springs new hope, born of leaves decaying.
Just as new life will come from death, love will come with leisure.
Love of love, love of life and giving without measure
Gives in return a wonderous yearn of a promise almost seen.
Live hand-in-hand and together we'll stand on the threshold of a dream.

Sweet. What you should have done, just to put the dog amongst the Brussels, cat amongst the pigeons,or whatever, is to have claimed to have written this then sat back and smiled at the plagiarism hullabaloo that would have followed.Hope you're well Andrew.

Like everyone, I enjoy music, but it's always the lyrics that draw me in. I think some of our greatest poets are musicians, Mcartney, Lennon, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, to name just a few; all have written hauntingly beautiful songs.

I know a little about the Moody Blues, and what I do, tells me they wrote some lovely songs; and the lyrics you have posted are just wonderful.

Beccy.

The Moody Blues is one of my favorite groups! Yes, their lyrics are often poetic. Thank you for sharing this with us. Lydi**

Hi Andrew. yeah, I can see why it's a favourite!!! Love that last line . . . holds a magical anticipation without making any promises. Great metaphorical travel from winter through to summer and brilliant in the context of this poem. yep, I loved the group, though they faded a little over the years. Did he write knights in white satin by any chance?? alf
